We stayed at the lovely San Cassiano Ca Va'Favretto, a 14th Century building full of charm and character.

The view from the balcony of our breakfast room.

Water taxi drop off at the hotel...and Elaine.
Lunch in Venice
On our day of exploration, without a specific plan, remember, we just happened upon a little restaurant out of desperation.

Here is a nice version of a cicchetti platter. You see sardines, fresh veggies, and bread with cod spread.
Dinners in Venice
I spilled a lot of wine over the course of the trip. Elaine's pants came clean though! My shirt wasn't so lucky. Dinner at Trattoria Al Gazzetino, lobster and prawn lemon spaghetti.
Osteria ai Promessi Sposi was our dinner on night 2. Down another alley, hidden from the crowds in the Cannaregio district, the food did not disappoint. Their steak was incredible. The cicchetti plate was another win. The friendliness of the service was our only complaint.

We devoured a ton of gelato on this trip. This one was worth a picture! Gelatoca SoSo had a line that moved fast. There is a little pistachio and dark chocolate in there.
For next time:
Restaurante al Conte de Pescador
Antica Sacrestia Restaurante
Enoteca Al Volto
Osteria al Squero

White wine for me and no to the sardines! Everything else was delicious!
